A quarter of a million Bibles distributed in
Ghana, also in Braille
It has already been distributed nearly one
quarter of a million copies of the of the Jubilee of Ghana for the Good News
Bible Edition. The delivery of copy No. 250 thousand, was an event in which
media was invited to attend, and local authorities responsible for education.
The high school in the Greater Accra region stands in a field surrounded by
bushes and planted with corn farms. In the first and second courses there are 93
scholars. It was an atmosphere of joy watching the students with their gala
uniforms, sitting on wooden desks, expectant at the presentation. 'We are very
pleased that the Bible Society of Ghana has remebered us, 'said the Chancellor
in his speech. 'We never thought we would be witnesses of an event like this.
"Joyce R. Aryee, chairman of the Board of leading of the Bible Society,
encouraged the present students to read the Bible and think of what they read,
and ask God to help to obey it.
The climax of the event was the delivery of the 250 thousand copy of the Bible.
The chosen person was Hilda, a fourteen-year student of high school. She could
not hide his joy when she was chosen in a random way, stroked her moment of fame
posing for the cameras with the president of the Council and the general
secretary.
IN BRAILLE
Last July a delivery of the Scriptures in Braille for the Blind of Wenchi´s
School was made, in the Brong-Ahafo region. It was a matter of great joy to
their members, who were excited to see that the Bible Society had thought of
them offering Scriptures that they could read. The Vice Chancellor, Adu Damoah,
expressed to the Bible Society his gratitude and added that he almost never
received visits from churches, institutions or organizations. A week later,
students from the Blind of Wa School, the capital of the high western region of
Ghana, also received Bibles from the Bible Society. In the presentation they
heard the description of the work of the Bible Society. The event ended with
words of appreciation of the Chancellor and one of the students readaloud from
the book of Jeremiah.
